Superlative Adjectives in Spanish, French and German

Using Superlative Adjectives

A superlative adjective is a form of adjective used to compare three or more things or beings within a group. It indicates the highest degree of a quality among the members of that group. In English, superlative adjectives are often formed by adding "-est" to the base form of the adjective (for example, "tallest," "smartest") or by adding "most" before the adjective (for example, "most beautiful," "most intelligent"). For some adjectives, irregular forms are used (for example, "best," "worst," "most/least"). Superlative adjectives are commonly used when you want to emphasize the extreme quality of something or someone in comparison to others.
